Tales of Berseria is a story about two warring parties, one who believes in ultra-rationality and the other that rationality can only get you so far. This conflict highlights many philosophical questions including “What does it mean to be human?”
The game takes place centuries after humans were exterminated by beings known as Akuma (Devils). The tale follows young Velvet-, whose father was murdered during their village’s destruction while she watched helplessly from above; she becomes an avid believer in mediumship which helps with grief over this tragedy… but also performs other functions like helping people contact loved ones lost at sea or staging fake miracles convincing audiences guiltlessly accessed souls reenters Earth plane—all through tricks sworn professionals.
Velvet’s journey through the game is one of recovery, as she tries to find herself again after being hurt three years ago. Her anger and hatred have replaced her former kindness; however it does not take long for players’ compassion towards this character to make itself known—Velvet was once an interesting person with many layers who had been discounted by a single moment in time that changed everything forever ̶ but now there are only more reasons why we want them back!
